Peter Adams is an award-winning artist whose work largely explores the material and emotional value of landscapes. His paintings highlight the restorative power of nature, juxtaposing realism with the abstract to guide viewers to a place of beauty and serenity amidst the chaos of life. Adams seeks to capture the relationship between humanity and nature with its mutual benefits and collateral misfortunes. Adams was born in Glasgow, Scotland and grew up in Toronto, obtaining his degree in Film Studies from Queen’s University. He has received multiple honours throughout his career including nominations for the 2015 Salt Spring National Art Prize and the 2017 Kingston Prize for portraiture. Adams was also invited to join Brazil’s Labverde Arts Immersion Program. He lives and works in Collingwood, Ontario where he is affiliated with the Georgian Bay Land Trust’s King Family Bursary.
