Mark Berens

Born in Montreal, Mark Berens graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design (Toronto) with an Illustration degree, an education that also provided him with his initial career impetus. Memories of his artist grandparents and their oil painting excursions to Georgian Bay, combined with Berens’ desire to seek greater personal artistic fulfilment, ultimately led to the successes that he has enjoyed in capturing gorgeous Canadian natural world subjects. Berens’ landscapes often have an abstract quality, an effect achieved through his intense commitment to providing depth, light, and colour palettes that convey remarkable yet subtle power. Throughout his landscape painting career, Berens has travelled across Canada in search of new subjects. His work has been featured in numerous North American galleries, and in the homes of many devoted collectors and admirers. Berens lives and works near Collingwood.
